| 6/9/08 - Ashburn-based DigitalBridge Communications (DBC) announced that it has launched high speed wireless Internet service in Twin Falls, ID. This launch completes the first phase of DBC's WiMAX deployments in Idaho which began in June 2007. In Twin Falls, the WiMAX service, called BridgeMAXX, will reach more than 25,000 homes and businesses. DBC is also serving Bellevue, Hailey, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Rexburg Idaho.
Felix Gallegos, Market Manager of DBC's Western Idaho Markets, officially launched service with a "wire-cutting" ceremony and a demonstration at the DigitalBridge Communications office in Twin Falls on Thursday, May 22nd at 1162 Blue Lakes Boulevard North. Also speaking at the event were Bobbi Pyle, Membership Coordinator from the Chamber of Commerce, Bruce Quale, owner of Quale Electronics, an authorized reseller of BridgeMAXX, and Joe Kochan, DBC Vice President of Operations.
"BridgeMAXX high speed Internet gives businesses in Twin Falls a distinct advantage to get online where and when they need to," said Bobbi Pyle, from the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Ambassadors. "It's especially beneficial for businesses with fleets or who need to work outside of an office. The portable nature of the service provides a unique solution."
Bruce Quale stated, "We are excited to be selling BridgeMAXX service to our customers. It's a reliable and affordable truly high speed Internet connection, something our customers are looking for as they set up satellite TV and Internet services for their home. It's also incredibly easy to use. We encourage our customers to give it a try and take it home."
"We're committed to working with outstanding local companies such as Quale's Electronics to distribute our BridgeMAXX services," stated Gallegos." Forming partnerships with companies who share our commitment to outstanding service makes both of us stronger, and provides customers with friendly, convenient options for purchasing broadband."
BridgeMAXX is available through 10 dealers in Twin Falls and Sun Valley. Customers can try it and take it home the same day when they visit one of these authorized resellers. In June, 2007, DigitalBridge deployed the first commercial WiMAX network in the country in Rexburg, Idaho. "We're delighted to be completing the first phase of our network in Idaho, and to be providing WiMAX service in seven Idaho communities within one short year," said Joe Kochan. "This next generation technology is here, today, delivering cost effective and flexible broadband solutions to Idahoans for business and for home use."
The BridgeMAXX service features plug-and-surf technology, which allows customers to set up and begin using a WiMAX high speed Internet connection in a matter of minutes. For most residents, service can be accessed using a small portable modem that connects to the computer. The wireless high-speed Internet service uses licensed radio frequencies to provide service instead of traditional coaxial cable, telephone wires or satellite dishes. WiMAX is a secure, high speed, long-range wireless Internet technology.
BridgeMAXX service features extremely easy set up, value and portability, and offers residential plans delivering download speeds up to 2 Mbps and upload speeds up to 500Kbps which is significantly faster than dial-up or satellite. Subscribers can get online anywhere in the BridgeMAXX service area; which now includes Idaho Falls, Hailey, Pocatello, and Rexburg in Idaho, just by taking their modem with them. Enhanced service plans for business use are available as well. Customers can sign up for BridgeMAXX online, over the phone, or by visiting a dealer.
