| 6/18/08 - Wireless Matrix Corporation (TSX:WRX) announced that deployments of its locomotive communications solution suite have surpassed 10,000 subscribers. Working with the majority of Class 1 railroads in North America since 1999, Wireless Matrix provides critical data communications and industry-standard application support to the company's broad base of rail customers.
The current locomotive solution suite is built around the Mobile Base Station for Rail. Developed with attention to the specific needs of the rail industry, this communications unit combines cellular and satellite network coverage in a design ruggedized to withstand the challenging operating environment of locomotives. It supports key locomotive operations, including asset tracking and location, fuel and engine monitoring, Event Recorder Automated Download (ERAD), Positive Train Control (PTC) and Computer Based Train Management (CBTM).
In addition to communications support and application integration, the company's solution provides on-line tools for device management, allowing rail users broad flexibility in how their solution is deployed and utilized.
