Microsoft Investigates Global Outage Affecting Microsoft 365 and Azure Services
Microsoft is currently investigating a widespread outage that is impacting access to several Microsoft 365 and Azure services globally.
“We are aware of access issues and degraded performance across multiple Microsoft 365 services and features. More information can be found under MO842351 in the admin center,” stated Microsoft.
However, many users have reported difficulties connecting to the Microsoft 365 admin center and accessing the Service Health Status page, which is intended to provide real-time updates on issues affecting Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365/Power Platform admin centers.
The company noted that this incident is affecting users worldwide and is only impacting a subset of its services.
“We are looking into reports of issues connecting to Microsoft services globally. Users may experience timeouts when attempting to connect to Azure services,” Microsoft announced on the Azure status page.
“Our engineering teams are working to diagnose and resolve the issue. We will provide more details as soon as possible.”
Microsoft 365 Outage
Since the onset of the outage approximately one hour ago, Downdetector has logged hundreds of reports from users experiencing issues with Entra, Intune, and Power Apps. Users are also having trouble accessing Microsoft 365 websites and Outlook.
Despite Microsoft’s ongoing investigation, the Office service health and Microsoft 365 network health status pages currently show no issues with Microsoft’s network and availability, customer network infrastructure, or internet service provider availability.
Update July 30, 10:14 EDT:
Microsoft confirmed that the outage has affected the Microsoft 365 admin center, Intune, Entra, and Power Platform services. However, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Exchange Online remain unaffected.
“Users who can access the impacted Microsoft 365 services may experience latency or degraded feature performance,” Microsoft explained on the service health status page.
“We are analyzing traffic patterns within a section of our networking infrastructure to assist our investigations. Additionally, we are reviewing mitigation options, including potential failovers, to provide relief.”
Update July 30, 11:15 EDT:
Microsoft announced improvements in service availability following a networking configuration change.
“We’ve implemented a networking configuration change, and some Microsoft 365 services have performed failovers to alternate networking paths to provide relief,” the company stated.
“Monitoring telemetry shows improvement in service availability, and we are continuing to monitor to ensure full recovery.”
