The amber alert warning system sends false alert about Nuclear Power plant…. Again!
The original alert was sent to the whole province of Ontario, Canada. Although it mentioned only those within 10KM of the Pickering Power plant.
So people panicked and turned to local media who had no more information than anyone else who recieved the message.
At that point, people were pretty much in full panic mode.
Fastest and dumbest way to wake people up is to tell them there's an emergency at a nuclear plant, & they're safe "at this time," implying that may change quickly, then give no other info. **Durham Regional Police say they know nothing about it. #pickering #ottnews

Got another alert: "Radiological Hazard Ended". I'm over 200 kms from the nuclear power plant.

Important update: the alert regarding #Pickering Nuclear was sent in error. There is no danger to the public or environment.

Hi Ontario:
The minister responsible and accountable for today's massive failure of a false nuclear alert is Sylvia Jones, Solicitor-General.
And the Minister of Energy is Greg Rickford.

The emergency alert system is losing all credibility. #Ontario #PickeringNuclear

Ontario's history with Nuclear …
1. Enriched uranium to make atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan
2. Sent nuclear waste home workers as a way to dispose of Nuclear waste
3. Sent false alerts about false warning to Ontario residents

@CP24 please tell me that’s not the photo of the crew that’s responding to the emergency situation at #pickering #nuclearstation #ontario #alert pic.twitter.com/Dv4aRhAMcp

Same with me and I’m between Woodstock & London. It was a province wide alert. I too received alerts stating “Radiological Hazard Ended” well before receiving the original alert of a hazard.
